This song was written as a reaction to sudden passing of Jitka Suranska, a fiddle player and singer, a key figure at Folk holidays festival in Namest nad Oslavou, Czech Republic. She died of cancer at 41 in October 2019.
I didn’t know her personally but the news came as a shock and I felt I needed to react.
The track features Claudia Heidegger on violin and Shane Ó Fearghail on bodhrán.
